Pharmacological action :
It has antibacterial effect to many gram-negative bacterium (such as colibacillus, pasteurella, salmonella) and Staphylococcus aureus (including β- - lactam enzyme strains). Many streptococcus (Streptococcus pyogenes, pneumococcus ect), anaerobe (Bacaeroides or Clostridium), Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Rickettsia and fungi have tolerance to this drug. Clinically, the drug- resistant strain is far less than that of streptomycin and kanamycin. The drug-fastbacteria of gentamycin (MIC≥8ug/ml) including many gram-positive aerobe, some Pseudomonas syringae PV and anaerobe. The drug resistance of bacterial strain by induction is seldom during cure with medicine. Pseudomonas aeruginosa which has drug-resistance to gentamycin is still sensitive to amikacin and tobramycin. It is used to treat for blood poisoning, urogenitaltract infection, respiratory tract infection, gastrointestinal tract infection( including peritonitis),mastitis and soft tissue infection caused by sensitive bacteria.
IndicationsAminoglycosides antibiotic. Mainly used to treat for gram-positive or gram-negative bacterium infection.
Dosage and administration "
intramuscular injection: One time dosage 2-4mg/1kg body weight for livestock. 3-5mg/kg body weight for canine or cat.
2 times/day, keep use for 2-3days.
Adverse reaction
Gentamycin often cause damage of vestibular function, also can cause reversibility rental toxicity which is relative to its storage at Renal cortex. Anaphylactic reaction is Occasional.
Precaution
1.Gentamycin and Carbenicillin can combine treat serious pneumonia infection, but has incompatibility outside the body. Other β- lactam antibiotics also can't be mixed with gentamycin outside body during using which is the same as carbencillin.
2. It has synergism to streptococcus when combine with penicillin.
3. Not suitable for Intravenous push for the breath inhibitory action.
